Alcohol Counselling

Would you like to become a volunteer alcohol counsellor within one of our community counselling teams?

Counselling1-200

There are opportunities for you if you

  • wish to develop your counselling skills
  • are academically trained in counselling and seeking vocational experience
  • are an experienced practitioner wishing to add psycho-social alcohol counselling to your skill mix

All applicants are asked to undertake specialist alcohol counselling training. Course work involves study of addictions and effective interventions in vocational practice.

Training is free though subject to a selection process, and as places are limited, you must be able to give assurance of your commitment.

If you wish to volunteer, you will need to set aside one evening per week to counsel clients in either Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Dunfermline or St Andrews. Initial training also involves some weekend work.

FASS counsellors are provided with regular support & supervision.

Support Work

There are also opportunities for volunteer support workers in FASS. We want caring and compassionate individuals willing to support our staff alcohol counsellors when they visit clients in their homes.

Also, within our ADAPT project, support workers provide brief interventions and mentoring support for clients. Full training and supervision is provided.
